Poppy Seeds Cake

Super easy to make, this Poppy Seeds Cake is light, tender and perfectly sweet will begood for almost any occasion!

  • 3 eggs
  • 220 g sugar
  • 110 ml vegetable oil
  • 110 ml buttermilk
  • 110 g sour cream
  • 60 g poppy seeds
  • 320 g flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • In a big bowl mix together the eggs and sugar for about 5 minutes.
  • Add Vegetable oil, buttermilk and sour cream. Mix again until all the ingredients are mixed well.
  • Add the poppy seeds and give it a quick stir.
  • Add all the dry ingredients to the mixture and stir again.
  • Transfer the butter to a baking dish and bake at 350F for 50-60 min.
  • Let it cool completely. Then decorate it with a little bit of powdered sugar dust.


The baking time will depend on the size of your baking dish and your oven.
I use a silicone mold that is 5.5-inches tall and 8-inches wide at the top.
